Joomla Migration/Upgrade

Today's websites need to be responsive, because fewer people are using their PCs to access the Internet

If you are running Joomla 2.5 or below, it is CRITICAL that you migrate to Joomla 3.x in 2016. Joomla released 2.5.28, its final 2.5 version, on December 31, 2014. Joomla 2.5 is no longer supported, which means no more security updates or patches. Not good.

What Does This Mean to You?

First, you are running your business website on obsolete software. This will for certain cause problems with your hosting company—maybe not today but down the road for sure—because your website will become incompatible with their servers.

Secondly, your website will become more vulnerable to cyber attacks (e.g., malware, SQL injections, viruses) since Joomla is no longer supporting obsolete versions. We all know how stressful it can be when our website goes down or is hacked. It's not only an annoyance and a great source of anxiety, but for many website owners, it means lost revenue. If you've been working hard on optimizing your website, your search engine rankings may also be affected by downtime.

Thirdly, unlike upgrading from Joomla 1.5.x to 2.5, this is considered a "mini migration," which means less of an investment than your last migration.

Finally, if you haven't updated the look and feel of your website for a few years, now is a great time to consider a redesign. Today's websites need to be responsive, because fewer people are using their PCs to access the Internet. Instead, the shift has switched to people using theiir mobile devices to access the Internet. According to comScore:

Mobile-only internet usage is also becoming more common, driven predominantly by Millennials, of which 21 percent are no longer using desktop computers to go online. Meanwhile, the 55-years-and-older consumer segment is actually the fastest growing faction of mobile users, increasing its combined multi-platform and mobile-only share of audience from 60 percent to 74 percent in the past year.

Joomla Administrator is responsive. Imagine being able to maintain your own website, sitting at the bus stop, for example, making website updates on your cell phone—Joomla is super easy to learn. We'll teach you how to use it.
