Search Engine Optimization

The higher your rankings, the more people click on your page

It's a wild world online. In September 2014, the Internet reached a milestone of 1 billion websites, and 300-500 new sites go online every single minute. With such an overwhelming number of choices, how does anyone find anything? The answer, of course, is Google. According to the most recent data, Google ran 67% of all web searches, more than twice as many as all other search engines combined.

So here is the million-dollar question: How do we get Google—and, yes, the other search engines—to notice your website and move it up the ladder so people will find it, click it, and do business with you?
Components of SEO

When people go to Google, they are looking for a specific thing—let's say they are looking for lawn care in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. If you own a lawn care business in Eau Claire, those are the people you care about. They are your ideal visitors, looking for exactly what you offer. So let's get you higher in the search rankings for lawn care professionals in Eau Claire.

Google's "page rank" determines the pages that go to the top of the heap and which ones get buried. The page rank is determined by keywords and "backlinks." Keywords might be things like "Eau Claire, Wisconsin lawn care" and "Eau Claire grass cutting." These tell Google what your site is about, but it is the backlinks (links from incoming sites) that tells Google to trust (and therefore recommend) your site.

The higher your rankings, the more people click on your page. The more people click on your page, the more business you'll do. If they like your products or services, they'll talk it up—further improving your page ranks.

But all good SEO begins with optimizing the site so Google can find it. We offer full-scale SEO work that takes place over a period of months to help drive traffic to your site.

There are typically four stages to this process:

  1. Optimize Site Infrastructure—In this stage, one of our SEO experts will verify the coding of the website for optimal search engine friendliness, set-up the Google analytics program to track the site, and review the hosting provider to check that web stats are set-up and that the DNS server is operating properly.
  2. Oversight of Website Programming and Coding—In the second stage, our SEO expert on the project will work with the developer to oversee SEO programming processes and provide any necessary further corrections to the website's coding.
  3. Implementation of Overall Website Optimization—In the third stage, Indigo will create SEO elements for non-product or landing pages of the website, including spiderability and code validation. Then comes the implementation of SEO "best practices" for the overall website for better visibility. This includes a directory structure; adding file names, an outside listing in directory services, and a sitemap; and setting up a custom 404 (error) page.
  4. Create Top Level Navigation Pages, Fully Optimize Landing Pages—The fourth stage starts with the creation of recommendations for specific landing pages optimization for your products and brand. This will include specific copywriting enhancements as well as keyword research. This step also includes the creation of specific meta data for each page.During this stage, one of our SEO experts will monitor and research all the analytic information on website performance. They will test in beta, fine tune, and send final instructions to the programmer.

SEO Drives Business

Let's not lose sight of what is most important here: Growing your business. (It just so happens that sometimes the route to business growth is very, very technical.)

Note that Indigo does not imply any guarantee of any certain page ranking.
